There are many things you can do to make your computing life easier:

If you don't know who sent you the e-mail, delete it, and make sure you don't click on any links or download any attachments.  This is also a good rule of thumb if somebody you DO know has sent you something you didn't expect - call them first before you open or click! NOW is the time to DOUBT that e-mail, before you "click" - again, if you aren't sure, call the friend who sent it before you click!

Realize that nobody is going to send you anything for free - there's always a catch, and it's usually your credit card!

If you are surfing the web and all of a sudden windows pop up that tell you your computer is infected with viruses or malware* or similar wording, don't panic, and don't click on any of the windowsInstead, using your keyboard, press the Alt key and the F4 key simultaneously to close each window without clicking on anything.  Then, immediately restart your computer. If you still notice strange behavior, give Harmony PC a call - my specialty is getting rid of malicious software.

One of the top ways to get in trouble online is to search for music lyrics - it's one of the most popular searches and it will lead you into trouble, so don't do it.   The only web site I know that is safe is lyrics.com.  If you have a smart phone, download the app "Shazam"; it can help you identify a song next time you hear it; once you experience this app's amazing ability to show you what song is playing you'll be amazed and happy the rest of the day.

In the world of the 'internets', if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Keep your computer clean and dust-free, inside and out.  Make sure you take off one panel every once in a while to clean the inside (make sure the computer is turned off and unplugged first, of course.)  If you aren't comfortable doing this, we can take care of that for you.

Give it plenty of room - it needs space to keep it from overheating; make sure it's in a location that has plenty of open space for air flow into and out of the computer.

*MALWARE:  What is it?  It is 'malicious software' designed to separate you from your hard-earned money!
